I suppose you could pick up a ps1 or something somewhere and just mod that for playing ps1 games if you wanted.
I already have a modded PS1 in the basement (its hooked up to the tv by the treadmill to play when I run), but the PS2 is upstairs and like emwearz said I want to play with component out on my main HDTV.

I don't think there is any ps2 chip that will play ps1 backups. At least as far as I know.

Maybe a second chipped PS1 with S-Video? Or the Dreamcast Bleem route, though some games won't work.

Yeah, I just have a PS2 fat that is rocking a HDD and HDLoader. A Slim PS2 for my genuine games (that don't work on HDL) and a PSOne with RGB SCART/Screen for when I want to game in bed.

Would that be ok for the older fat ps2s?

Also, would it be ok with freeMcboot and network/internet connection?

my Fat PS2 has a DMS4 Pro chip in it. Im running Toxic OS .41 and it boots burnt PS1 games directly. Also, I saw the other day a ESR patcher thats supposed to patch PS1 games to play on a softmodded PS2. Its similar to the ESR patcher that patches PS2 games for play on a softmodded PS2.

edit: maybe it was the PSXLAUNCHER.ELF I was thinking of? But thats just a matter of swapping right?
