Curious about your PSP battery life...

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

So I have a 3000 that serves well, I prefer the weight and size of the original but I can't stand the screen and carrying it around is a bitch. On my original, I remember getting about 5 hours if I was lucky when it was new. With the 3000 I can get about six on the standard battery, however my friend with a slim gets around 8 playing Lumines and Patapon.

Is it possibly worth it to get the extended battery pack and have the original size bulge on one side? I heard that you can get up to double on 2k and 3k systems with it but I'm not certain so I haven't started hunting one down.

With a brand new slim battery, I get 6-7 hours of battery life. With an older battery, it's about 4-5 hours.

The extended battery pack is definitely worth it. You get about 12 hours of life. Pick one up from www.sony.com for $29 + tax which is the best price I've seen.

I got the extended life battery for my slim (turned the stock battery into a pandora). At first I thought it would be annoying because of the size, but it doesn't bother me at all.

I never took note of how long it last, but I did notice that it long out last the stock battery.

I personally bought an external battery from Dealextreme.com, it cost about 20 dollars.

Also, as someone who has only owned a Slim, what makes the PSP fat so much superior?
I would think the slim is the best becasue you can buy AV cables for it, its slimmer, and you can still hack it.

If you are afraid of breaking the screen, then get a hard case or something.

Personally, I have a phat and a slim. I like them both. I can see why people would like the phat since it has a heftier feel to it.

What did you think of the battery that you got from dealextreme.com? When did you get it? is it still working well? I'm skeptical of third party batteries lasting. I've had some work well and others that conked out quickly.

uhh sorry, it is still being shipped to me, I bought it yesterday. Ill tell you what I think of it after I actually use it! :)

Im kinda afraid of the thing myself, as I saw in some reviews (of a different battery) that the battery would bloat up, and not work.

Why would I be afraid of the screen breaking?

Anyway, I just find the phat to be so much more comfortable to hold, but it's much too fat for carrying in a pocket most of the time.

I have a PSP-1000. It seems to last 5 hours or so.

Though I would never buy one, maybe why there is a PSP GO or was it because DRM downloads. Longer run time to compete with DS due to lack of UMD drive motor. Sony blew it by not having battery saving game carts as Nintendo has proven since original grey Gameboy.

Yeah, I don't see why the PSP cant just have 2 Memory Stick ports, one for an actual memory card, and one for a game. I only paid $34 for a 16 gb memory card, so using them as a game medium would be as expensive/ less expensive than those little UMDs
