I love the Sega CD because of its quirkiness and the fact that as I kid the whole game CD/console thing was so novel. Plus I always saw the SCD as really expensive (not 3DO or Neo Geo expensive mind you) but enough so, that to have one know with a shelf full of complete copies makes me feel like Richie Rich or something, even though most of the games I have are only worth $5-$10.
Plus some of the games are just downright unique. Great system, perhaps one of my favs.

Re: What are your favorite Sega CD games?
i just picked up road avenger in "the wild." i normally would have passed it up - box is a bit roughed up and it is missing the instruction manual - but since you and a few other people recommended it i couldn't pass it up. it definitely is an interesting game. i have played through the first two levels and enjoyed it. my only gripe is that all my focus is on what button i have to press next and not on what is actually happening in-game. it's almost like tunnel vision: i just see left and right arrows, brake, or turbo.Pingfa wrote: Road Avenger. Personally, I'd say it's not only good for an FMV game, but a good game. Best FMV on Sega CD or your money back!
if you took a shit, please put it back
Re: What are your favorite Sega CD games?
^ Yeah, I also felt like I would have liked to see more of the action in-game, but I guess that adds to the game's charm - you really have to concentrate to get through, and it's pretty satisfying when you reach the end of a level.
I haven't played many FMV games, but next to Road Avenger my favourite would either be Sewer Shark or Night Trap.
I guess I enjoyed Night Trap more - guilty pleasure; it's just too cheesy not to enjoy! - but Sewer Shark is more replayable and more like, well, a game. Following those two would be Tomcat Alley.
It's best to write down the time certain events happen in Night Trap, or play and memorize A LOT.
The only one I would not recommend is Ground Zero Texas. It's kinda' cool how the game doesn't play out the same everytime - in one scene, a woman shot at me unexpectedly; after I restarted and reached that scene again, a man shot at me and the woman ran away - and very cheesy death scenes are amusing to watch, but the gameplay is mostly pretty tedious. That game could have benefited a lot from lightgun support.

I picked up road avenger in the wild, it had about 9 different cash converters stickers over the top of one another representing each price drop. Its also the one i see in every single mega cd lot on ebay. I never realised it was any good til i read this. I just plugged in my mega cd today so i might give it a shot soon.
And i don't know if the US had anything like this, but there is a demo version of keio flying squadron which has a level select and gives you the whole game, this being the reason i plugged in my mega cd!

Yeah road avenger is really very cool. Its still the same dragons lair style of game but the animation and the music really make it stand out from the crowd.
I heard about that keio demo disk - lol at the coders who forgot the level select

yeah i was wondering what the go was with that, i suppose that's the most likely explanation. Funny that people probably discovered that before the release day even came. the copy i got has the level select written on a post-it sandwiched under the back cover of the case. just finished level one, so i'm off to test it now!
