I made the same mistake. I found it for like $3 or $4 when I first got my 360. I bought it only to realize that it wasn't supported. I have the collection on PS2 now.

I have the PS2 version. I've always wondered why they put it on two discs. It seems like they could easily fit it all on one. Especially since Metal Slug Anthology had 1-6 and X and I believe that was all on one disc.

I whole heartedly recommend metal slug anthology for the ps2, especially with an arcade pad.

4&5 on the PS2 were ports that ran at the proper frame rate and in 240p identically to the arcade cab. The Anthology is a badly emulated, blurry, slowdown riddled mess which I honestly hate.

So what emulated versions for current consoles are considered the best?

Never tried XBox versions. PS2 4-5 and the PS1 versions seemed fine to me.
Dreamcast NEO For All plays fine too.

Yes, stay far away from the anthology. It's an insult to the series...and borderline unplayable.
