Whats the easiest way to check if my saturn ram cart works? I just tried to play a back up of street figher zero 3 (jap converted to pal with SRP2.1a) and it loaded ok but some of the graphics were scrambled (random coloured squares) like the 3 in the main menu and the whole of the player selection screen. Could this be something to do with the game or is it the ram cart?
other stuff:
without the ram cart the game wont load and demands that i put one in
the game works in ssf
consoles chiped and works fine normally
i have region moded games before and its worked
Whats a native pal game that needs the 4meg?
saturn problem: with game or ram cart

Its one the racketboy sells. there is a switch and its set to the mode that lets the game run, when the switch is moved over it brings up the 4meg error that shows with no cart, so i assumed the mode that lets it work is the 4meg one.
on the cart it says pocket fighter and has the model number xh-08 and some japanese text, looks like this

i know ive put samurai shodown (which is a 1 mg game) on 4 meg and i got wierd crap all over the screen.
anyways you have wierd crap for a 4 meg game running on a 4 meg cartridge.
lets see if racketboy has something to say since he sold it to you.
anyways, your running on a PAL machine? more details might help.

Well, Japanese games are the only ones that require RAM carts. Not sure if there could be a PAL issue.
Do you have other games to try?
Have you tried making sure the cartridge slot on your Saturn isn't dirty/dusty?

Well, having more than one game can help rule out it being an issue with the game.z0de wrote:Not at hand but i can get one, I was hoping their would be a way not dependent on games to check. Whats the bes way to clean the slot beyond blowing in to it?

blowing on it is really silly.
what that does is add moisture to metal and it just corrodes it more.
turn off the power, wet the cartridge contacts well with rubbing alcohol and insert it in and out of the slot like 10 times.
leave it alone to dry for a several hours, cart out of the slot of course.
