I'm sure that'll be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
Right here. No dice. Looks like I need to keep waiting.
Mod it! Swap around internals.

No offense but that's definitely not the consumers job.

Seriously, I admire you guys who have the skills / equipment to open up a machine and fix it to your liking. But I don't have either. In the end, if some company can't be bothered to make a quality product, I won't be bothered to give them my money.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

You're right Popo. It's great that they included SNES ports like the retroduo, but what's the point if the buttons are mapped wrong? If they would fix this one issue, I'd buy a RetroN 3 today.

Damn right Flake! For seventy damn dollars I expect a product to work correctly out of the box.

Come on Hyperkin. Fix this issue so that I can buy a RetroN 3.

Why do people feel compelled to by inferior clones when you can still buy the originals online for pretty much the same price?

and S-Video? are you kidding me? if you're going to make a clone, make it superior, that means RGB, I understand most people don't have RGB monitors so have a converter for component or dvi or HDMI. Also, give me digital SNES audio, plenty of people mod their original systems to do this so if I'm gonna get a clone I want controllers of better build quality and better A/V quality.

if I can pick up an original console still for $60-$70 then a clone should have more features and quality, and not have broken games. It'd be nice if they actually used a lot of the original hardware instead of doing a system on a chip, but then you couldn't have the multisystem in a box (not a bad thing in my mind, seeing multiple cartridge slots on a console just feels wrong)

Original toaster NES is the original "YLOD". The contacts eventually fail due to design. NES screen resolution of 256x240, RGB won't improve over S-Video.

That said The RetroN 3 does look sweet with option of original controllers. Perhaps a revision will fix the button layout.

I have a famicom that runs just fine without fail.

Also the NES/famicom didn't output RGB, you have to do an extensive mod to get that, but I'd say there is certainly an improvement over S-Video, the resolution is irrelevant. And for the Super Nintendo and the Genesis it certainly matters. Not to mention the neither the genesis nor the Super Nintendo audio will sound quite right.

I think that thing is pretty sharp looking. I had a Famiclone once that broke on me and I just do not buy them anymore.

I bought an inferior clone because after the 4th nes I tried buying that wouldn't work I gave up on neses. And the toploading one is too expensive. Got a retro duo for $40 and it plays the games just fine, and also plays snes games so I don't have to have both systems hooked up. Plus it takes snes controllers.

Hi there,

Yeah, I bought one about a month ago. It's sitting on my shelf in the box, I'm not using it at all. I bought it for the Genesis games since my real Genesis doesn't work on my HD tv, as the screen keeps scrolling upwards, making the games unplayable (though I recently *potentially* found a solution to that).

Apparently the Retron 3 emulates the Genesis really well because the exact same scrolling issue I have with the Genesis happens when I play those games on the Retron 3! The Firecore displayed fine on my tv, but it has other issues.

It's not a bad system *as far as clones go*, though it doesn't play Castlevania 3. I'm in the process of getting the original systems and putting my clone systems into storage.

In my opinion there's no need to get a Retron 3.
