What came first... the internet, or the person addicted to the internet? The television, or the couch potato?

I dont think gamers will be cool until the Atari generation is in their 50s/60s. Then most people will have grown up with videogames and they will be more universally accepted.

Maybe. It used to be, like back in the 80's and early 90's... that if you owned a computer and used it a lot that you were considered a geek or a nerd. Hell, they even made a movie out of it - "Revenge of the Nerds!"fastbilly1 wrote:I dont think gamers will be cool until the Atari generation is in their 50s/60s. But of course, basically everyone uses a computer nowadays in one form or another, so it has certainly become more widely-accepted.
However, if you're a computer (or online) gamer... then I think there is still a stigma attached to it. Even though it's gotten better over time, I think computer gaming still conjures up the image of an anti-social person locked away in a bedroom or basement, talking to "friends" who live in other parts of the world, and may have never had a decent relationship or engaged in sex before. lol

True. To be honest, I have given up on getting acceptance by the majority of the populace. If they dont like me for who I am, so be it. I will get my enjoyment from playing games with my friends, they can get theirs from watching the next big sporting event or tv show, whatever, no skin off my back.
Re: 5 reasons it's still not cool to admit you are a gamer.
Considering the videogame industry is larger than cinema, it really doesn't matter whether people accept gamers or not, they'll have to pretend to do so.
