cool thread... anyway..
22, I work 3rd shift at UPS because the pay for my schooling. Definitely not worth it by the way.
I signed up for the Navy and I leave for boot camp at the beginning of August. This is a big reason I am selling most of my collection if you've seen my thread over the past couple months.
My main hobbies are movies and weight lifting. I like playing games, but I really don't play that many. I've beaten a total of 3 games this year, one of them being Super Mario 64 which I've beaten 20 or so times.
Not Just A Gamer
Re: Not Just A Gamer
The tech industry pays my bills. I've an emphasis on Security, but am also heavily involved in Systems and Network. After working for a few of the large guys, I've been working for more start-ups in a management/directorship role -- but still, festooned to the keyboard and mucking up devices.
Besides video games, I collect old arcade equipment and restore them -- at least to working order, if not reaching cosmetic brilliance. I also love board and card games, and have an obsessive collection.
Outside of those pursuits, I work in pen & ink and watercolor. I read a fair bit, and write for pleasure.
I'm 36, married and have no plans for children. My wife loves animals, so we have a fair number of pets.

I'm 22. I'm graduated in Journalism, currently looking for jobs in the area. In the meantime, I teach English (in an English school, not as a private tutor, at least). I'm probably applying for a Masters by the end of this year, but I'm not sure if I'll try something in communication or in another area (maybe design).
I also play table tennis. Most people laugh when I say this, but I'm yet to find anyone who's played ping pong and hasn't enjoyed. Anyone.
Last year I decided to lose weight and started going to the gym. I don't want to lose anymore weight (I dropped 60 pounds, got fit), but I keep going to there because, first, I think it's fun and, second, because I don't want to go back to my old, unhealthy, even more unattractive self.
I watch TV series and anime compulsively, also, but I think my other nerdy interests are outside the scope of this thread.

Hmmm, 34, law enforcement, B.A. and M.A. in Political Science. I have 2 stepkids, been married twice, have screwed a lot of women (before my wife) and wrench on cars in my downtime...when I'm not playing games.
Oh yeah, never lived in my parents basement and never wore pajamas. Commando at a young age. Ladies?

I'm a middle school science teacher, but before I taught I was a:
-Lifeguard
-Swim Instructor
-Swim Coach
-Track Coach
-Community Center Manager
-Database Programmer
Since teaching I have done the following summer jobs:
-Aquatics Director at 3 different pools (I am usually brought in to revamp or clean up someone else's crappy management and set up a new system)
-Movie Theater Manager
-Worked as a Sawyer (a friend has a portable sawmill and I helped him mill trees into boards for a summer)
-And currently I work at a "youth adventure" summer camp where we teach water-skiing, kayaking, and go biking.
I am also a father of two boys under 2yrs, collect/read/blog comics (see my sig), but my family takes up most of my free time - and that's cool with me!

IT professional for state of Alaska department of transportation. Married with no kids (Yay!). Mom lives in NY so I'm as far away from her basement as is humanly possible.

I'm management for a health care I.T. department. It's OK but the basement wasn't bad either.

I think you underestimate the size of the planet.invincibleservant wrote:IT professional for state of Alaska department of transportation. Married with no kids (Yay!). Mom lives in NY so I'm as far away from her basement as is humanly possible.
And now that I'm here: I'm a 26 year old stay at home dad of twin four year olds. I'm currently studying with the direction of biomedical engineering, after a long hiatus. My basement is where my game collection resides, so it's not such a bad place to be.
Re: Not Just A Gamer
I think I've figured out why I'm poor. I have no interest in any of the real jobs you guys do.
