Mace: The Dark Age (N64)
I'm just curious, does ANYBODY else like this game? Because I've always regarded it as an underrated 3D fighter.

Back in the my friend loved this game, I however thought it was rubbish. He still raves about it even now when we talk about fighters.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Maybe you didn't give it enough of a chance? It's not like the controls suck or anything. It's very playable *shrug*

I don't recall what I didn't like about it to be honest, only that I didn't. Maybe I just didn't like getting my arse handed to me when we fought and I'm still butthurt 11 years later.Weekend_Warrior wrote:Maybe you didn't give it enough of a chance? Re: Mace: The Dark Age (N64)
My only memories of the game.
Used to go to a friends house once a month for the weekend. Every month he'd rent a n64 game. We were all pumped for Mario Kart 64 and were supposed to be renting that. His younger brother somehow talked him into Mace, so instead of having a blast on Mario kart we played mace. I was pissed off he didn't pick up Mario kart ha ha.
Looking back it was alright but nothing stood out enough to get me past the "this isn't mario kart damnit."

It's one of the better fighting games on the Nintendo 64...though admittedly that isn't saying much. I remember when it was released I was really interested in it, but wasn't able to pick it up until a little over a year ago.
I have trouble getting into it after all the time I've spent with other weapon fighters, especially Soul Calibur, but if folks are interested in fighting games for the console, I'd happily recommend it over such titles as Deadly Arts, Dark Rift, or Dual Heroes.
