hm. true but the graphics are 16-bit style :P.

I remember seeing 32-Bit written on the box, and I was expecting PS1 visuals.

If I was to pick one system for favorite graphics, I'd probably have to choose CPS2

The first virtual fighter had the coolest graphics. It had a style instead of just trying to make really realistic looking characters, like every other game does today. It'd be awesome if they did an HD version of virtual fighter in this style.

My favorite era would have to be the halfway point in the Playstation's lifetime. It was past the awkward 3D, but it had style unlike most games of today.

I have nostalgic fondness for the 8-bit NES era, especially when they did large pictures. That was always a big deal back then.

I also like the 16 bit era. Remember when Mode 7 effects blew your mind?

But despite my love for the retro, I honestly most love the last generation of PS2 the most. I like a graphical style that activates my imagination, so today's games are mostly too detailed for my tastes, still I like to have something visually impressive to look at. For me, the PS2 got just the right balance in quite a lot of games.

I'm gonna say last gen just because of cel-shaded graphics. They are just cool.

I think you need to see this unreleased Resident Evil 2 GBA port:

The GBA is capable of basic 3D graphics often associated with early 32-bit consoles. Take the DRG engine for instance: http://ds-x2.com/news/DRG%2B3D,1484,1484

Being partial to 2-d graphics, I pick the 16 bit era and also the graphics of the arcade games of that time. I have to admit though, 32 bit brought us some awesome 2-d visuals too, particularly from the Sega Saturn. However, the 16 bit era was ALL about the 2-d. Some of these games STLL look great today.

I think gaming in general was perfected in the 16 bit era. No camera issues, no finicky analogue sticks, no need for game assists like auto targeting so it was ALL player skill, less visual issues like clipping, tighter controls, more durable media, NO FUCKING LOAD TIMES, and games were just the right length unlike the fucking 100 hour epics some developers go for these days that no one actually has time to play.

Even though I often call the Dreamcast my fave console, I consider the 16-bit era the golden era of gaming

Some great looking 16-bit games:
