EMS Topgun II: Problem with Xbox
EMS Topgun II: Problem with Xbox
I have the EMS Topgun II and while it works fine (and very well) with my PS2, I don't know how to get it to work with the original Xbox. I tried it with House of the Dead III and Silent Scope Complete but the games can't even detect the gun. I know it can work on HotD III because I saw a Youtube clip of someone playing it with this gun. Does anyone know how to use it on Xbox? The manual just says to plug it into a controller port but none of the buttons do anything.
Re: EMS Topgun II: Problem with Xbox
How are the sensor bars situated? Are they connected to the XBox or at least powered on thru the PS2?

Re: EMS Topgun II: Problem with Xbox
The bars are set up above and below the screen, just like in figure 2 in the manual. Red led on top left corner and wires coming out from the right side of the bars.
I don't think the problem is with the bars because the same setup works fine on my PS2. On Xbox, the games don't even know the gun is connected to the system. I've tried everything I could think of:
Xbox controller in port 1, gun in port 2, sensors in port 3
no Xbox controller, gun in port 1, sensors in port 2
Xbox controller in port 2, gun in port 1, sensors in PC usb port
...etc
With the gun connected to an Xbox controller port, the blowback recoil and laser pointer works fine, but none of the buttons do anything. I went to the lightgun calibration screen in the games with an Xbox controller and the option to calibrate the gun is grayed out or it tells me to connect the light gun.
With the PS2, I just plug the usb end of the gun into the PS2's usb port 1 and the sensors in port 2. Power on the system with the game in (Virtua Cop Rebirth), and the buttons/dpad work. I don't understand why it refuses to work on Xbox.

Re: EMS Topgun II: Problem with Xbox
Gun switch at the base of handle set to XBox?
PC meaning using your computer for lightbar power source?
A shot (sorry) maybe power the light bars with the PS2? Perhaps interferes with Xbox connections of the EMS gun itself. Plug the gun into the Xbox, no other controllers and then power on. Lightbar placement allows horizontal or vertical, maybe a difference between two consoles?
EDIT
PC as power source should be fine since the bars are simply lights.

Re: EMS Topgun II: Problem with Xbox
Switch was set to X/P.
Yes, pc=computer
I just tried again with no luck. Plugged sensor to pc usb port (led lights up), disconnected Xbox controller, plugged gun into Xbox controller port 1. Recoil and laser work, but the buttons still don't do anything.

Re: EMS Topgun II: Problem with Xbox
Started thinking about the grey out calibration screen signifying the Lightgun not even detected. Lightbar wouldn't matter if not plugged in XBox. At this point maybe contact the vender for possible defective EMS Lightgun? Mabe the switch or the connector? Also make a mention which games you tried, see if they have a compatibiliy list.PSony wrote:Switch was set to X/P.

Never mind, I'm an idiot. I thought I had the switch set to X/P (because of how they marked it), but it was set to P. I switched it to X and it works fine.

Glad it was an easy fix.
