So, I need one (no questions asked. Really). But it must have one the new iSeries processors by Intel, have an hdd of 300 gigs or more, and plentiful ram, and of course be cheap. I was looking at Fujitsu's lineup, but it is looking really bad - bad design, bad review, bad price. Any other suggestions?

EDIT: Here is a 20% coupon off this ThinkPad: USPBIGSAVINGS
Only works through the end of today I think...
However, that is very expensive and I have no idea why Lenovo raised the price. If you just need a touchscreen, a lot of other series have them (T410s and W series all have optional touch screens,) so you may want to look into those too.
ThinkPad's are still built better than any computer on the market, only matchable in some cases by Apple's lineup imho. Even their crapiest ThinkPads (L and Edge) hold up better than anything Dell or HP has to offer.
I personally am using a T510. Awesome computer.

Wow! Thanks! But I was wondering: is there anything cheaper (no offense, but that one is REALLY pricey and no real advantage over the Fujitsu ones), and in the immediate future (by about August) will there be more to choose from (have you heard any announcements?)

Thanks! Unfortunately, for the purposes I need it is mandatory that I have the touch screen. Unfortunately, using my handy dandy graphing calculator, even the base model is very pricey vs the Fujitsus (on newegg) and doesn't even meet the minimum requirement of what I need it for. I will keep a sharp eye on the site, as I too know they are hardy mofos (lol, funny word), but I am open to other models (as well as other suggestions)

Okay, I would expect Lenovo to release another tablet soon, I'm not sure when however.

This is okay, as good as a netbook but it's an Atom. they run about £300 which is alot more agreeable price wise.

It looks nice, but unfortunately, it cannot be an Atom processor. It has to be one of the iSeries.
Re: Time for me to bug out: Need help purchasing a tablet PC
Sorry to say it, but I think you're out of luck. Very few tablets are using iSeries inside as it doesn't meet the standard set by a tablet. It has to be cool running, low powered for battery life and optimized for low heat as the majority of tablets are used over an arm or in hand.
Personally, I'm totally stunned at the price of that fujitsu, and think you should grab it. The i5 is a freakin powerhouse, but I don't know how well that will fare in terms of battery life. I had a Lenovo tablet myself, and after college, I ended up selling when when I build myself a desktop (hard to believe, but after selling it and building my desktop, I made $200 :S)
Lenovo and Dell have both optimized Core2Duos for their tablet lines, so I can't say much for the popular/well known brands aside to wait for the next line as RyaNtheSlayA pointed out. Other than that, last bit of knowledge is stay AWAY from HP's tablets. My coworker had the plastics melt slightly when running an intensive program on it. It's small, and cheap, but man, they did not give it a sanity check with heat dissipation.

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

Haha, sweet jesus, right after I posted that I hit up slickdeals.net
Dunno if it 'HAS' to be a laptop, but you can build a decent desktop rig for $1000, then slap this on it:
