how do you identify a factory sealed vs resealed video game?
does anybody have any tips, cheats, or possibly a walkthrough to identify a factory seal vs a reseal? i looked online and really didn't find anything too helpful and figured somebody here would know a thing or two.
i bought 2 sealed sega cd games - of the carboard box variety - and the the seal jobs look a little sloppy; the plastic around the corners are sagging a little and there are places where plastic overlaps on top of plastic. i might post pictures. pictures always make topics funner to read. i had a sealed nes game a week or two ago and everything was crisp and clean. the seals on these games remind me of a friday-at-4:50 type job.
FYI, these games weren't expensive and i didn't overpay because they were sealed. in fact, i think the sealed copy of one of the games was cheaper than most of the opened CIB copies. i plan on keeping them sealed and am just curious if they are actually factory sealed.
also, the seam goes around 3 sides on both games and there are very tiny holes, i think termed 'vent holes,' in the plastic. i don't know if this makes a difference or not.

Okay, is the cardboard "squeezed"? Usually happens with factory shrink wrap on old games. When LPs were popular the rule was not only slit but remove the shrink wrap from the Album cover. Idea was to prevent the vinyl from warping over time. So if your Sega shrink wrap is loose like last weeks left over meat loaf saran wrap then I would say its not factory.
Post pics please, real curious about 80's New wave INXS game.

I have seen many Sega CD titles at a store by me that were sealed. I know the guy very well and they are inventory that he got way back when that has just never sold. So I think that you got a good chance at the real deal. Not too uncommon at all to see. Oh by the way, I am in Ohio also. Any chance you got those at Flashback?

i don't know how to copy an image and paste it. whatever - its no big deal. but, the crease on the top flap and bottom flap look wrinkled/worn - like they have been opened and closed a few times. i think at least one of them is a reseal. but i don't give a shit. like a said before, i didn't buy them because they were sealed. i am just more curious than anything.CRTGAMER wrote:

As you said reshrink is of little issue, especially when you have an unusual Sega CD such as that INXS one.final fight cd wrote:i don't know how to copy an image and paste it. whatever - its no big deal. but, the crease on the top flap and bottom flap look wrinkled/worn - like they have been opened and closed a few times. i think at least one of them is a reseal. but i don't give a shit. like a said before, i didn't buy them because they were sealed. i am just more curious than anything.CRTGAMER wrote:Post pics please, real curious about 80's New wave INXS game.
Pretty sure a lotta members would like to see the front and rear cover shots, possibly your take if you ever try it.

CRT, have you really never heard of that game before? the "make my video" series is one of the most infamous on the sega cd. i feel like if you've heard of the sega cd, you've heard of "make my video."

Re: how do you identify a factory sealed vs resealed video game?
This isn't exactly related to this topic. It has to do with a DVD being factory sealed or resealed and I didn't want to create another very similar thread to this one.
I bought Return of the Dragon (Bruce Lee) off of Amazon. It was listed as Used-Good. It arrives and it was still sealed with the plastic. The plastic is very tight, the folds are where they usually are, and it has the "security device enclosed" stickers on all 3 sides. The top one even being stamped with the DVD logo and "Return of the Dragon.
I don't know why someone would go through all that work to sell a DVD they probably made $5 dollars off. Or why they would sell a "New" DVD as used.
Any input? Thanks everyone.
