I won't rehash my own arguments about American politics that appear in those above threads, but just a general guideline for these threads: try to avoid any kind of sweeping generalizations like "politics suck" or "the government is evil" or "tea partiers are racist" etc. etc. A worthwhile political thread is full of well-reasoned, thought out (and - yes - often lengthy) posts.
