And since I have a launch copy of Half Life 2, that game will be with me aslong as I still have access to a pc that can run it. Like UT and HL1/TFC, it may not always be installed, but I know I have it there when I need it.

I know it is a silly mindset, even childish in some regards, but it is the way I work. It hasnt failed me yet and does not look like it will in the near future. I am all for digital distribution for games, even if my recent comments dont seem that way, but I really do like having discs.

Another thing I can attribute it to is that when going to lanparties back in the day, it was always a great joy of mine to flip through others disc wallets to see the depth of their collection. That is something I have past down on the younger generation. Again, somewhat childish, but I think it is neat.
Regardless, you can burn your downloaded copies just as easy, and even make your own custom sets of the games rather than rely on seperate discs. Also, Gabe has stated multiple times that if Steam ever went down indefinitely, they would surely put out an unlocker tool for our discs and backup archives which will convert them so they can be installed and ran without steam entirely. Shit I want that right now, but oh well.

I think this topic went a little off. What Mozgus tried to do was for everybody to share their games with everybody else and I think thats great. But it turn out into a warzone. Come on guys I just gave mine to another person here on the forum. Do the same 8)

This forum has never come close to being a warzone and never will. Nobody is even fighting here. It's fine. I mean there's far too many nice people here.

I didn't think there was any fighting, just a bit of debate. It was actually quite interesting for me to read, seeing as I have no idea how Steam works.

Anyhow, The Orange Box is a fantastic deal for me since I don't own any of the titles in it yet. I do understand why some people would be annoyed that they have to buy the same games again, but on the other hand at least they aren't trying to sell the package for the full price of what the games inside are worth.

I'm buying it today. This will be my first attempt at liking a FPS. I've always been a side-scroller vintage game player and this is a huge step for me. I'm giving it a shot mainly because I liked the demo of Portal so much.

Thou shalt spoil when thou presents thy spoiler warning.

But really spoilers have never harmed me. If anything, they motivated me to finish a game to connect the pieces to what I've just seen, and in the case of shitty games, spoilers relieve me from the instinctual urge to finish what I start, no matter how painful it might be.
