I think they should just go cashless. Just have a debit card that keeps track of "credits". It would be almost like Star Trek. For real though.

RFID style debit cards are becoming more widespread in this country, my friend has one, he can just go to a store that supports it and then just touches his card on the reader and that's it. Very quick, he can only buy £10 a day on it though, due to the obvious security implications should the card get stolen (it doesn't require a PIN or signature). Anything else he can just pay normally with Chip & PIN on the same card. I want one.

In Korea (where I am currently living) and in many other places, the taxes are built into the prices that you see.

That's one thing I miss about being in Korea, no need to worry about sales taxes. If something's 4,000 won, it's 4,000 won.

It's like this in Brazil. I don't like it; taxes are hidden. The government gets away with raising taxes because no one has any idea what they're paying for.
