Pirate cart - should seller pay shipping?
As I mentioned in a different thread, the Amazon seller sent me a pirate GBA Wario Ware Mega Games cart. I sent him an email explaining this and he asked that I send him the cart back to get a refund.
Should I be expecting the seller to pay for the return shipping? I mean, it wasn't my fault that the cart wasn't as advertised and I shouldn't pay for the mistake. What's the general rule here?

The rule is its illegal to sell pirated games, so you don't have to ship it back and you still get a refund.gtmtnbiker wrote:As I mentioned in a different thread, the Amazon seller sent me a pirate GBA Wario Ware Mega Games cart. Can you find where that is stated on Amazon's website? I don't see anything like that. It just says that I need to contact the seller and ship the item back to them.pepharytheworm wrote: The rule is its illegal to sell pirated games, so you don't have to ship it back and you still get a refund.

Tell the Bum you want a refund first before return shipping or you will report it with a pic back to the sponsor who is Amazon. Normally the shipper says to just keep it for all the trouble, but in this case they might want to get it back due to being illegal. I would keep it because the trouble they caused, false advertising and such.

GT, I think you've got leverage here.
Even if it's not in the rules, explain to him that if he doesn't comply, you'll can leave negative feedback and then file a claim for a full refund with return shipping.
When things go wrong, sometimes I just ship back at my own cost if I think that it wasn't the seller's fault, so the seller doesn't have an out-of-pocket loss for return shipping. But for misrepresentations or items materially not as described, I'm going to demand reimbursement for return shipping.

I concur with everyone here. He's only asking for the cart back so he can pawn it off again. You are entitled to a refund. He's entitled to get bent.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

i don't want to be the odd man out...
but how do you know this isn't a man who knows nothing about video games and is just selling his son's old video game collection? or maybe he already had it and had no idea it was a pirate.
i do think he should pay the return shipping, which is probably only a few dollars, but threatening him with negative feedback might be a bit extreme.

Re: Pirate cart - should seller pay shipping?
This happened to me, I sent the guy a PM, he replied back saying its not a bootleg and put up a fight, I linked him to article I wrote on my blog about it, he said sorry, gave me a refund, said to keep the bootleg as a token of good faith.
You shouldn't pay shipping for the return, regardless. Something I always do is I cut open the bag its mailed in, if its a bootleg, not what you ordered, wrong item, etc, you tape the bag up and write RTS on it, free return mail.

I thought the same thing. Maybe I'm just a bit naive or whatever. But I don't always think people are trying to rip me off.final fight cd wrote:
