While not dead, the members of early Heavy Metal bands (Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Deep Purple, etc.) are getting older. I'm not saying that Metallers don't die, but most of the time when you hear about their death it was a car accident, overdose, or suicide, not things like cancer or of old age. Soon Metal Stars could be dropping like flies. (I'm probably not making much sense, but I hope I got my point across.)
It does make sense. Such is life, and the great enemy; death (and the cancer that can bring it!).

Man, that sucks. I'm real glad I got to see him last summer during the Heaven and Hell tour.

Oh man, I didn't expect this.

I heard about the stomach cancer a few months ago but I seriously thought he'd pull through...

I'm not the biggest Dio fan, but I understand and respect the man for what he has contributed to music. The thing that pisses me off though, is that on my yahoo homepage, there was no headline about his death, if a fucking golden girl dies, or some other no name actress, its in the news forever, but Ronnie Funting James Dio doesn't get a mention. That upsets me ( i could have missed the update mind you, i was at work most of the day)

Saw Heaven and Hell last year and had tickets to go see him (as Dio) before they cancelled the gigs due to his condition. It's such a shame, but inevitable, the guy was old. Death catches up with us all.

I never really heard of Dio, but I do enjoy bands like Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and Styx and I really enjoyed him in Tenacious D. Since I never knew the guy through his music, I want to correct this problem immediately. Any of you guys know any good songs from Dio or from Black Sabbath in general?

Tribute to Dio: Rock music fans unite!

Post by JokermanJohnny »

I will be honest: I barely knew Dio and his death barely affected me as a music lover. However, I did hear that he was a great contribution to Black Sabbath and the rock music genre as a whole. As a result, I want to invite all the rock/metal fans out there and talk about their experiences with the genre as a whole. I want to know what your favorite songs are, your favorite members of a particular band, or if you've collected any merchandise. All in all, I want to share the love of rock and metal with other people.
