Classic games marketing their "cutting edge" technology!

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Classic games marketing their "cutting edge" technology!

Post by Jerkface Killah »

I am starting this thread because I expressed in another thread that I enjoy collecting games CIB (complete in box)because I enjoy seeing how games were marketed in the era in which they were made.
Games from "back in the day" were sometimes marketed with their "cutting edge" technology of the time. Obviously, looking at these games now makes this marketing look ridiculous. Here are a couple of examples.
The first is the NES game "Xenophobe". "Over 1 Mega Power". I guess people gave a damn about this back in '87.
The other is "Shinobi Legions" for the Saturn. It really markets the "Virticle and Horizontal Scrolling". I know what they mean, but I wouldn't buy a game because of this feature.
Post pics and/or text of other examples of such marketing!

Remember when "Polygon Count" was the criteria?

Since I collect 32X and PS1 Long Box games, I'll have a few things to add to this thread. I'll go take some pictures and come back!

I remember thinking that Descent on my 486 PC had amazing graphics just like the box advertised. Missiles were literally one colored polygon.
