Breath of Fire series any good?
Breath of Fire series any good?
^^Yea, I've been holding back on this series. I just want to know if this game is good enough to replace your favorite rpgs.

Hell yeah, I am busy now and will go in more depth later. By the way I own all versions and played all of them.

You don't have them? Tsk Tsk your suppose to be the resident GB/GBA guy. Sort synopsis of differences slightly better graphics but lower resolution which makes them visually equalize and poorer sound. Character portraits are drawn different, extra cutscenes (not much though), different battle interface, you can run now, quick saving and the game requires less grinding, more money and experience per battle, so its less hardcore but more fun.noiseredux wrote:I've been keeping my eyes pealed for the GBA releases...

I'd actually argue that Breath of Fire III is one of my favorite PlayStation RPGs, if not one of my favorites of the genre. I've also played through the majority of the first, and I thought it was a solid game. I've heard 2 is excellent as well, though after III I've heard the series goes downhill. Someone else will have to confirm that though.JC48573 wrote:^^Yea, I've been holding back on this series. I just want to know if this game is good enough to replace your favorite rpgs.

Only V is kinda bad but thats only because it has so many concepts different than normal rpgs. Its one of the only jrpgs that is made to have a replay value, in fact. You have to play the game at least 4 times to see it all. But it only takes 15-20 hrs to complete each time. II, III, and IV are generally deemed the best by most which is weird there isn't one that most agree is the best like most rpg series. II is considered to ogrinding, III slow loading, and IV bad story pacing, those are the commen complaint.

Re: Breath of Fire series any good?
Breath of Fire II and III are some of the best RPGs I've ever played. BOFI and IV are kinda meh. I never got a chance to play V... really would like to, now that I think about it. I know everyone hated it, but I'm dying for an RPG that actually tries something new.
