Okay, so i got the battery case open and lined it with Aluminum...by the time I had reclosed the lid (about 10 seconds) it smelled like burning plastic and got rather warm....I think this thing is toast. A long shoot indeed, but if anyone knows what could possibly fix this, I'd love to hear it!!!

Okay sorry, doesn't look good for self heating hand warmer. Should be able to at least rescue the pics off the memory card, USB direct unlikely though.
