How much are old gaming mags worth?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

How much are old gaming mags worth?

Post by DownSince86 »

While cleaning out my basement I stumbled upon three large boxes full of gaming magazines from when I was a kid. Most of them are Gamepros from 1992-2001 or so, random issues of Tips and Tricks and EGM, and strategy guides for fighting games and RPGs from around 1993 - 1998.

They are fun to thumb through every now and again but I don't really want to keep them anymore. On the other hand I don't want to throw them away either...it seems like a shame to burn all those great mags with the rest of my trash.

Is there a market for these things? I see a few guys selling them here and there but I'm unsure what to ask for them. If I were going to sell them what would be a fair price? They aren't in the greatest condition as they were stored in boxes for years and mistreated by myself when I was a kid and didn't take the greatest care of my stuff. But they are readable, most of them have their covers, and they aren't covered in mold.

Just curious is all.

Seeing as you don't want a million dollars for them. But don't want to throw them away. I would sort them into what mags there were and see them in lots on ebay. It would only be as many auctions as you wanted.

They're generally not worth much. However, I remember someone was looking for older GamePros a while back on here. You should make a complete list of what you have and post them in the BST section. :)

Maybe someone at Retromags could find some sought-after issues?

I'll try to compile a list of the issues I have. As I said they aren't in the greatest condition..mostly the covers show signs of wear all of the pages are fine from what I've seen. I did remove most of the inserts/posters when I was a kid though and who knows what happened to them. :(

Is retromags that group effort to scan all the old issues of the major gaming mags? I'd be more than willing to donate them to an effort like that if I have any they are missing.

Swift: Would you be willing to drive up to Rockingham county and pick them up? I'm not far from you...about 40 minutes North of Greensboro.

I have EGMs 1-60, I am debating whether or not to keep them or not. I don't want to just throw them away, but I don't want to keep ALL of them either. I am still torn.

We would definitely accept the donations of any unwanted magazines from 1999 or earlier. Don't be shy to contact anyone from that site, myself included :)
