Haha, very true on the humidity outside. But my consoles stay inside where the AC keeps the air drier. The random console stuff that I cleaned up that had been sitting in a garage for years were indeed bad though. Did you know that things will grow on the rubber grips of a used controller that's been outside in the humidity?Limewater wrote: Hobie, don't you live in Houston? Your breath is probably drier than the air most days of the year. That's joke, but I'm kind of serious. Most of us in the south expose our games to more moisture through just having them than we would by blowing them on occasion.

It won't really change anything as far as new sales go. This idea only affects those who buy it used. The people who buy the same game every year will buy it new when it launches and play it to death. That demographic won't be affected at all. Even people who buy it used may not be affected because an online access code could be put in the purchase price of the used game. If it was $40 used before, it will still be $40, except it will be $30 for the game and $10 for the online access.gtmtnbiker wrote: If their games are truly really good, they'll make more money. Otherwise, I think it will be about the same (plus/minus a little). I don't think it will necessarily change whether people buy it used/new. It will affect used games pricing. When someone gets less money for a game they buy new, they'll have less money available for other new games.
Which kind of counters my earlier argument, but oh well. I still say it's smart because EA now gets the money for the new game sale as well as $10 for the used game sale.

At least it's an opportunity for other game franchises that won't require extra fees to play online. Those are the ones that are likely to get pushed harder by Gamestop.

I think I read somewhere that Gamestop was all gung ho and on-board with this idea. I'm thinking that used game retailers may get a cut of the $10.jfrost wrote:At least it's an opportunity for other game franchises that won't require extra fees to play online.
