By the color of the disc tray and color of the system and the year.

Heck, maybe the serial lookup might be easier.

The other way is to check the wattage on the power supply and whether the 360 has a HDMI port or not.

if it's 203W with no HDMI it's a Xenon. If it's 203W with HDMI it's a Zephyr. If it's 175W with no HDMI it's an Opus. If it's 175W with HDMI it's a Falcon and finally, if it's 150W with HDMI it's a Jasper.

Xenon = 90nm CPU + 90nm GPU
Zephyr = same as above
Falcon = 65nm CPU + 90nm GPU
Opus = same as above
Jasper = 65nm CPU + 65nm GPU

Hope that helps.

You can also tell what a 360 is by the amperage listed on the back of the console. If I remember right, Zephyr/Xenons were like 16 amps, Falcon is 14.2, and Jasper is 12.1. I always felt the easiest fix was a proper PRP. I've been using Gamestop. New console about once a year and all it costs is 50 bucks for a new replacement plan. I've fried 2 or 3 Falcons and I'm hoping to finally get a Jasper before the plan on my current one runs out. I wonder how annoyed gamestop would be if I return the console because the controller that was included quit working. It always thinks the stick is being pressed forward or something now.

Don't worry about them if you are not happy with something take it back.

1. No, they simply won't fit.
2. Jasper is the best, it has a 65nm CPU and 65nm GPU and the lowest power consumption of all.

Some older power bricks that have a higher wattage rating will power later systems ok. The pin in the middle and the top of the power plug in that one chart is the important part to look at. Older power bricks can power newer systems, but not vice versa.

Can't you just change the color of the lights behind the ring?
