I'm sort of like weekendwarrior, I set certain thresholds for myself. If I'm out browsing for used games, $10 is my cutoff for a single cart. That might seem nuts, but it's worked well for me in the past. Now if I'm after a specific game and I'm gonna order it online that I'd say I have to teirs depending on how badly I want the game and how rare it is: generally in the $15 range and $30 range.

As I've said in other threads, most games in my want list are under $20. The ones that aren't are either current-gen (DS mainly), or those hard to find gems like Shantae and Earthbound, which are probably the only two I'd drop more than $50 on.

I'm unfortunately going for a complete collection, so I've had to suck it up and drop more money on a few titles than I wanted to. But I look at my SNES collection, and deep down inside, I feel it's worth it.

Nah, I don't think it really limits you much. You lose boxed games and really sought after games but that's it.

I, for one, have the following rules:

1) Only buy at pawn shops not online
2) Only seek boxed games when possible
3) Don't buy anything not on the list

This way I limit my spending quite a lot and tune it down to my speed of play.

retro is indeed becoming expensive. hell, when places stopped renting nes games, i can recall my mom bringing me at least 50 titles home that the store she worked at GAVE her. Gold cart zelda, mario 1-3, and even the myriad 6 in 1 (i really dont want to talk about what happened to this one, if only id known when i was young what it would be worth now, i wouldn't have traded it for double fucking dragon).

I have an under $10 rule for PS2 and PC games (though I make some exceptions), but I say under $20 for GameCube because they generally tend to be more expensive for whatever reason. if it's not a game on my wishlist, I won't buy PS2 games unless they are under $5, since they are often $2 at a local pawn shop.

Do you have Super Copa yet? I find SNES prices managable there isn't any $150 games a couple SFC though are.

Nah, I'm afraid I don't have Tony Meola's Sidekick Soccer. I've been avoiding picking up sports games for the most part, since they tend to go for dirt cheap and I see them constantly. I figure I'll buy in bulk later.
