It's not that I have a problem with them per se, its just that they don't flow as well as X-X3. In the SNES games, after landing from a dash jump, you can immediately dash again. In X4-X6, there's a delay after you land from a dash jump. Thus, the game just flows more poorly.
I actually thought Megaman X 5 was much better than Megaman X 6, which I consider the worst game in the series.
Shrug. It's been a while since I've played X6, so it might be even worse than I remember. Regardless, I still think X5 completely fucking killed the series, and X6 certainly didn't revive it.
I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.

As for that boss...well, you don't NEED crash bombs, it's just tough without them. I've done it, but it is pretty rough.

Huh? One of the gun turrets is behind a wall that, as far as I could ever tell, can ONLY be destroyed by the crash bomb. Maybe I'm remembering wrong.
I'm 90% certain that the turrets are immune to everything except the Crash Bomb. And you don't have enough energy to miss or blow up an extra unneeded wall.

I guess I'm thinking of an entirely different boss then from the one he described.

Maybe you're thinking of the room where blocks fly out of the walls and attack you. I think I use Bubble Lead in that room.

Here's the boss order:

Dragon - Quick Boomerang
Bottle room - Metal Blade (two shots per robot thing)
Guts Dozer - Quick Boomerang
Turret Room - Crash Bomber
Wily - Can't remember, I think first form is Atomic Fire, then stuff like Air Shot and Metal Blade, Maybe Quick Boomerang
Wily 2 - Bubble Lead (yay figure 8 pattern)
