I got the game over Christmas and it's a blast. My kids and I love playing it. I haven't tried playing it in solo mode yet. My kids have the tendency to want to race through the level while I like to find/get the gold coins. They also love being Toad.
If there's anything to dislike about the game is the periodic slowdowns. Thanks for the game, Nintendo!

Re: New Super Mario Brothers Wii
Five months later, we're still playing it 4-5 hours per week. I definitely got my money's worth from this game (Bought it from Amazon for $39). The kids and I have been sweeping through the levels to get all of the stars.
The kids loved the scene the first time you "save" Princess Peach and find out it's not what it seems to be.
The feature that I really like about the game is the multi-player cooperative play. Yeah, sometimes it's annoying when the other player accidentally kill you but overall, it's a great feature.
Were there any other Super Mario Bros games that had multi-player action or was it all single-player?
The only thing I dislike was the occasional slowdown when another player is killed and it would often affect you (e.g, pressing A doesn't work or you don't jump as far, etc).

This was the only Mario (platformer) game that had simultaneous multiplayer. It's something the makers said they always wanted to do but never could because of hardware limitations. All the other Mario games took turns (player 2's turn after player 1's death and vise versa).gtmtnbiker wrote:Were there any other Super Mario Bros games that had multi-player action or was it all single-player?

I still pull it out every once and awhile and we have a blast every time. Nothing like a bunch of friends playing it with a couple of drinks.

Re: New Super Mario Brothers Wii
i really like this game but playing with other people can be really irritating. Most of my friends arent hardcore into mario games like i am so they all die every 5 seconds and it drives me nuts. if i could find some players who were on my level id be a lot happier. too bad theres no online support

Where do you live? Might be some folks on here who are in the area that might be willing to play a game or two.Pabstblueribbon wrote:i really like this game but playing with other people can be really irritating.
