Portal is free (for PC or Mac) until May 24th.

Post by J T »

Valve is trying to kick things into gear with their new Mac version of Steam and Mac versions of their games. To celebrate, Portal is free! (the cake is still a lie though)

Thanks for the heads-up, JT.

I already had a Steam account, however I never got a game through it. After the download and install, do I always have to have the client on to play?

Yes you do. All Valve Steam games and most modern games that use Steam require you to keep the client running for play. Old games distributed through Steam do not; just create a shortcut to their executable.

Hopefully this is also to build hype for Portal 2:)

Portal was my GOTY for whenever it came out.

I like how Valve actually cares about their gamers.
