I do CIB only for CD/DVD games. Carts loose.
Last weekend, I was doing some cleanup and came across the box for my Wii console. I put it in the paper recycling barrel. One more CIB Wii off the market. I will still keep the manuals but I'm not fussy about console packaging.
Does anybody just buy the game only or complete

Ok, Ok now cut that out!dsheinem wrote:LOL.CRTGAMER wrote:Had to look it up, Complete in Box so hard to type?
Really I'm not the only one who googled that.
God I hate cell phone habit acronyms.
IIRC, "CIB" predates cell phones by quite a bit.
Agree carts most of the time lucky to find with box-manual.

Re: CIB vs. loose
I learned it at antique toy shows in the early 90s.

Re: CIB vs. loose
I feel like an antique now, serves me for ranting.
Okay, learned CIB, but still hate all the uncommon mystery acronyms.
Yes you can all LOL at me.
A co-worker of mine told me of a story (Not ME just passing this tale on) where a father thought it meant Lots Of Love, used it as a common sign off for friends and family. After sending a condolence text to a friend with death in family ........... okay now LOL.
Back to Topic.
Loose games that I hate the most are the ridiculous anima-manga Gamestop generic covers. Good indicator the case doesn't have the memory card holder inside. I mean come on, just have a pro looking Gamestop logo, its free advertising. Hypothetical since I'll print a cover if i can't find an original.

Re: CIB vs. loose
I don't specifically hunt for CIB games. I print covers for loose carts -- but if I happen to find a copy in a box (and it's not a lot more $) then it's a nice bonus to have original box. The manual actually tends to mean more to me than the box.
It was awesome to open a sealed copy of Daedalean Opus a couple of weeks ago though!! Felt like a time capsule being opened. And how clean was the cart nestled inside the little plastic clamshell??

Re: CIB vs. loose
LOL use to mean Lots of Love, much like how ASL use to only mean Advance Squad Leader. The big question is, how did acronyms become common slang?
Re: CIB vs. loose
If I find something in the wild that's CIB, and it's cheap, by all means I'll buy it.
If I can save a few bucks by buying something loose online, though, I'll do that. I'm a rather utilitarian gamer.

Re: CIB vs. loose
Boxes are a burden. Sure they look impressive on a shelf and all, but with the exception of SMS/MD boxes, they're pretty easy to damage so you have to take real good care of them. My carts I can just throw in a box and stack them as high as I want. Boxed games, you have to be careful they don't get crushed, etc.
That's for carts. All my disc based consoles are modded, so the only reason to buy a game is for it to look nice on the shelf. So in that case, it's complete or nothing at all.
