CIB vs. loose
ive always noticed that alot of people want games to be CIB, personally i have never really cared... i know that it usually increases the value of the game and stuff, but is it just a matter of personal preference or am i missing out on something else entirely?

Re: CIB vs. loose
There is a subsection of all collecting communities that want to collect the objects complete (or sealed). Really it is a matter of personal preference. I have a few games that I love so I have bought them complete/sealed, but I have atleast one other copy of that game.
Re: CIB vs. loose
Depends on system. For example
I like nes loose. But famicom cib, and n64 cib.

It depends on the box. If it's a solid plastic case, I'd prefer that. If it's cardboard, I could care less.

Re: CIB vs. loose
I only care about having the cases for CD games. All my SNES carts are loose (though I think I still have the box for Mario Paint lying around somewhere), but all my PS/PS2/GC/etc. games, aside from a few, have their cases (and those that don't I plan on buying complete copies of). My reason is pretty much just for the purposes of displaying my collection and being able to easily find games. I can proudly display all my SNES carts on a shelf and be able to find one with ease. However, having my Playstation games in generic cases or on a giant spindle not only looks lame, but makes it more difficult to take out a specific game.
I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.
Re: CIB vs. loose
I am not as picky with carts (all my NES/SNES carts are loose), but with disc-based games I want the case/box for protection and identification. Having a case/box is the only way you can tell what a disc-based game is when looking at a shelf.
What really irritates me are carts without labels on the side- N64, Jaguar, 32X, Gameboy, etc. Other than the 32X I don't collect these systems in boxes, but probably should.

Had to look it up, Complete in Box so hard to type?
Really I'm not the only one who googled that.
God I hate cell phone habit acronyms.
Okay enough of the rant.
Prefer the whole package when possible, but if a hard to find game I'll snag it right away. Gamestop has a pretty good deal of try for seven day on used games. With that in mind I'll buy a game when I see one, then hunt remaining stores in the area for Compete in Box to get the manual, cover and manufacturer case.

Re: CIB vs. loose
i used to be strictly loose for cart games, and the reason is because 3, 4, 5 years ago it was next to impossible to find CIB games anywhere in the wild. at least for me. now i literally have close to a dozen stores all within a stones thrown away that sell cib nes and genesis games. since all this stuff is becoming so popular and accessible i am becoming strictly cib, with box only at the very least
when i mean cib, i mean nes, sega, 32x.
i don't care much for boxed snes games b/c i just don't like the boxes. and the n64 can just suck my cock.

Re: CIB vs. loose
I don't have any need for the cardboard boxes for my NES or SNES games. I like the way the cartridges look without any box. Genesis is different though. Genesis carts look kinda puny by themselves. Most of them came with cool hard plastic cases. Genesis cases look damn sexy lined up on a shelf.
I keep all my discs in cases to keep them from getting scratched up.

IIRC, "CIB" predates cell phones by quite a bit.
