Mega Man question

Post by Snatch1414 »

Hey there, had a quick question about Mega Man 2. Long story short, I never owned an NES so I missed out on a lot but I did pick up the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. I'm trying to get through Mega Man 2 and to be honest maybe it's late and I'm tired but this seems like the hardest game of all time to me. People suggest Flash Man or Metal Man to start with, and they're just brutal. Am I missing something? So far it seems to play just like the original Mega Man but with incredibly tough levels. Thanks.

I used to always go Airman first then Crash ect. But all these bosses can be beaten with just the arm cannon. With a little practice it's not too hard. Pattern memorization. And it's worth it to learn. Mega Man 2 is the best Mega Man game there is. Also - bubble man is pretty easy so I'd try him first.

The initial 8 bosses are easy compared to the Wily Castle and it's bosses.

Welcome to the world of Nintendo difficulty (At the time it came out Mega Man 2's difficulty was par for the course.)

For Metal Man stay on the other side of the room and jump groups of his blades. Hit him with a shot as he's landing then repeat. I think his options for attack only includes 3 different sets of metal blades tosses. You should eventually be able to beat him without getting hit.

For Flash man notice that when you get hit you are temporarily invincible. The same goes for Flash man. Hit him once, (get the timing down) then fire again just as he becomes vulnerable again. You'll probably end up trading damage but should be able to come off on top if you're using the arm buster. I think you have to take damage in this fight unless you use quick on him but thats cheating. Try to be jumping when he uses his flash and above the volley of bullets. Also keep a fair distance as touching him takes a lot more health then taking a bullet from him.

Arm cannon FTW!

With all due respect to the topic creator, you really haven't played enough games if you think Mega Man 2 is the hardest game of all time. They are other games out there that make Mega Man 2 seem like a walk in the part. Just off the top of my head, the Ghouls and Ghosts series come to mind

I always thought Megaman had its own "style" of difficulty. It can take a few continues to figure out a boss pattern, in my experience.

C'mon, you don't even need to move to fight against Metal Man. Just jump over his blades and shoot. If you get his weapon, the game is over.

it's easy for us who grew up on Mega Man to feel used to the difficulty level. But obvsiously a newcomer would find it intimidating. Give the dude a break.

I always beat Bubble Man first... he's the easiest. Air Man next I think... anyways... Mega Man 2 is the only Mega Man you ever need to play. ;)

I strongly disagree with this statement. As great as 2 is, I've always felt 3 was just as strong. Beyond that, there's lots of MM games I highly recommended!

I didn't play Megaman when I was young and Megaman 2 is actually rather rough. Particularly nasty IMO is that stage with the lasers. You just have to memorize that crap.
