Bacteria's project - FINISHED - SNES bluetooth controller!

Post by bacteria »

Yes guys, I have finished a new project - it was a commission job - to re-house a BGP100 bluetooth controller into a SNES controller. The buyer liked the bluetooth controller but not the buttons and control of the BGP100 - hence this project - the best of both worlds!

The videos and worklogs are done, and the item is on its way to the buyer!

I have made a full guide to make your own, and the processes required, on my forum - please have a look and join up if you'd like to!:

On that link is also the YouTube video too (or *click here* if you prefer).

I have trouble seeing how a computer could implement a VMU. Rumble is a maybe.

Would be awesome to mass-produce these (and maybe other ones like Saturn pads).
Would be great for HTPC emulation, right? Unless bluetooth has much lag?

The PS3 uses bluetooth for it's controllers so that lag can't be that bad. I don't notice any lag when I'm playing emulators on Linux on my PS3.

However, YMMV depending on bluetooth stack and/or interface.

Again, Engadget loves you.

Coincidentally, I love it too.

Thanks.

I am happy to take commissions on them, some people have asked already. People can make their own if they are able to, there is a full guide on my website; when I get time, i'm going to compile it and put it on my website too, and Instructables as well.

Regards lag, you can see in the video that there is probably 1/4 second between pressing a key and it showing on the screen. This could be down to the dongle I use (MSI Star Key) or the fact it is USB and not a PC card, or location of it, or whatever; I don't know much on this subject. I know people on this forum do, perhaps they can elaborate? I don't know if there is any lag on the PS3 ones you mention, for example. What I do know though, is a few minutes into gameplay and your brain seems to "adjust" to the tiny lag and you start playing games well.

Video is doing great, had over 8000 hits so far on YouTube, which is wonderful!

While making my big multi-integrated system, i'll also be making another fun project - got an Asciiware PS1 (or PS2) desktop type arcade unit controls - going to incorporate an old PC keyboard (rip it apart, etc) and make it into a nice arcade USB device for playing MAME on my computer. Going to give the controller a great paintjob too.
