The same thing happened to me when I got my GameBoy Player in 2003.
Also, being able to use the GBA itself as a controller with the GameBoy player was one of the coolest features ever.

I prefer to play games using the Xbox 360 wireless controller even w/ crap d-pad. I've gotten used to it and can pull off any move in SFIV/SSFIV without a problem. I'd love a better d-pad however.
As for the Dreamcast/Fighting games... The ASCII Pad FT was the only way to roll baby! I have 4 of those bad boys, 1 Capcom, 1 SNK & 2 Grey regulars.
Oh! Resident Evil 4, kicks so much more ass on the Wii than the PS2/GC because the aiming was so much faster / responsive. Make a great game close to perfect.
