Local guy here does the same sort of thing, though not quite that bad. Still though, selling Super Mario World for $30 or Final Fantasy IX used for $40 when you can still get new copies online for $20 is pretty insane. Guy used to have really good pricing too, I picked up Chrono Trigger from him several years ago for $5.burningmice wrote:He reminded me of the same thing. I would have had a laugh, but not to his face, he sounds like a nutter.
I was around with one of the worlds rarest games in my back pocket all the time! Just in case some guy with a repro wants to buy it, come on now!
One game I remember seeing in particular there was Yu-Yu Hakusho on the GBA loose for $120. I bought it an hour earlier at Wal-Mart for $6 complete. While they do have some pretty cool stuff I'll never pay even half of what their asking for.

This story reminded me of the pawn shop around my way. I went in there last week after school to browse and I noticed that they had some retro goodies for sale. They had a shoe box of shovel ware SNES games (super scope 6, shaq fu, etc.) for $10 each! They had another box with Genesis games for the same price, all crap. Then there was 2 shoe boxes full of NES games for $40 a piece, I kid you not, I've never seen friday the 13th for $40. He wouldn't budge on the prices saying they were "rare" and "valuable" but they were common games worth no more than $10, heck best one I've seen was Double Dragon. They had a shitty looking NES for sale and after I asked the price and he said "$75" I left. Hate those kind of sellers.
