I recently found this website via Cheap Ass Gamer. I don't know whether or not it's available outside the UK, but you can't really grumble at 1p games.
I've just bought Darwinia and Uplink. Both for a penny each. Awesome.
They're both by the same company (Introversion Software), Uplink is kind of like those old text based adventure games but with a hi-tech future vibe to it. You play as a freelance hacker performing jobs anonymously for an agency called Uplink. If you have any interest in cyber-crime or just want a quirky strategy game to play that is very open-ended )there's no right or wrong way to complete missions, just get the job done and get out without being traced) then Uplink will by right up your street.
I'm pretty sure most of you will have heard of Darwinia. For those that don't, Steam has a demo of the game for you to try. If you like it, pay a penny for it!
Edit: How rude, I forgot to put a link.

I think it's Europe only... I tried and it would let me pay with my American credit card. Dang.
My life for Aiur.

It worked with my international card. Thanks a lot for the heads up, Niode.
Edit: Getting the games to launch though is being a pain. I almost find the fact that I broke a finger good, since I wouldn't be able to play the games anyway.

What seems to be the problem? My Kaspersky Internet Security asked to confirm whether they are genuine, I clicked trusted. Then launched the games again, it ask me to authenticate my purchases a couple of seconds later the game launched. No problems. I'm running Windows 7 Pro x64.jfrost wrote:It worked with my international card. Thanks a lot for the heads up, Niode.

Uplink was amazing. 1p Uplink will be even more so
I remember when my little brother was about 10, I actually convinced him that I was a computer hacker through playing the game.
I wonder though, how're they making anything off this? Or is it just method of getting people onto GreenManGaming? As I've never heard of the site before.
3rd edit: It doesn't matter, I bought them anyway. Good stuff.

Oh yeah, it's definitely some sort of ploy to get people in. If I only ever buy Darwinia and Uplink from there I won't particularly care. Even if, in a couple of years time the service folds and they revoke access, for 1p you can't really complain.

Re: GreenManGaming 1p games!
I try launching the games and an error message shows up. Two links appear on the screen, one to download and install the newest DirectX and the other to download and install Nvidia PhysX. I dl'ed and installed both more than once but the games still won't launch. I already rebooted my PC, nothing changes. I haven't had the opportunity to look into the Help page, though.Niode wrote:What seems to be the problem? My Kaspersky Internet Security asked to confirm whether they are genuine, I clicked trusted. And I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 as well.
Re: GreenManGaming 1p games!
Uninstall and then download the games again. Did it say that the games were authorised and decrypted? The authoriser/decryptor flagged my AV since it's altering files on the hard drive but I trusted it and it was fine after I tried to authorise/decrypt the titles again.

Re: GreenManGaming 1p games!
The only game that gave me trouble was Jewel Quest funnily enough. It suggested installing the two updates which I did and it still didn't work.
Turned out all it needed was a good old fashioned reset of the computer after installaton and it all worked fine. Darwinia and Uplink worked right away, but I've not been bothered to install Necrovision yet.
This is on my girlfriend's laptop running XP however, I'll try them out on my Vista running laptop when I go home later today.
