You assume that 3D by definition causes eyestrain or headaches.

Is that going to amount to anything? Based on what I've seen that hack was only effective in OtherOS mode (which has been dealt with it seems), and doesn't apply to the PS3's GameOS. Given that, I don't believe that you could effectively define the root key with this particular hack.

Now that I think about it, what if Sony's removal of the OtherOS feature had something to do with this? That would be somewhat ironic.

I don't consider the PS3 to be hacked at this point. George Hotz did find an exploit. Whether or not it's truly useful remains to be seen.

Given how many people have complained of eyestrain or headaches from seeing films such as Avatar in 3D, and given how even Iwata mentions possible health effects being a concern (mentioned at the beginning of this very thread):
Iwata acknowledged people were already worried about the possible health effects of 3-D gaming, such as on children’s eyesight.

He promised it will be easy to turn off the 3-D function on the new machine, allowing people to play games, with or without 3-D.
I think my assumption is more than reasonable. Not to mention it is gimmicky. Just as gimmicky as the Virtual Boy or the 3D Master System glasses.
