I have seen both knob and switch in the wild in the US, so I wouldnt say it was Japan only. I dont know that much about the Galaxian/Galaga series so I dont know why there are multiple versions. Possibly just conversions.

That's just f'ing crazy. There are games that certainly demand that price. But most should be significantly cheaper -- especially if broken. I'm in Atlanta, and am chagrined by the fact that I can often find cheaper games in NYC,t0yrobo wrote:If it is a easy fix $200 is a pretty good deal. Every time I see cabinets on my local craigslist all the decent games are $500+.
My recent buys --
The most I've ever spent on a vid is $450 -- a Marble Madness in great condition. I got a Gyruss for $75, a Spy Hunter for $150, a Gauntlet II for $100. The Gyruss is beautiful, although missing side-art (easily replaced -- its just stenciled paint); the Spy Hunter is in decent condition; only the Gauntlet needed some work. Most of these are Craigslist. Automate your searches of craigslist and have them delivered to your phone, email, whatever.
Most cities also has a dedicated group of arcade junkies. They often sell cheaply to other members, just to keep the game in play in the area.

Nice buy! My grandparents have a Centipede cocktail table which my dad is currently trying to buy off them. It works perfectly and is a real beaut. I love these things! Perfect for a home bar.
