Picross 3D

Post by gtmtnbiker »

Is anyone a Picross fan and did you get Picross 3D?

I just got it a few day ago and it's fun. I wasn't sure that I would like the 3D concept but I picked it up pretty quickly. One of the best features of the game is multiple game saves. The original Picross had only one save. With the new version, I can keep my game separate from the kids.

My wife adores this series and played both the first Picross DS and the Japanese version of Picross 3D to perfection (e.g. highest rankings on every last puzzle in every single mode).

I'm debating picking up the US version for her simply so she can try out the online stuff - aren't there user-made puzzles? Are they any good?

I haven't tried the user-made puzzles yet. I'm just working my way through the puzzles. I just completed the Easy tutorial section and will do beginner. I like to do them in order even though I could just jump into normal and up. My kids enjoy watching to see what the resulting shape will be. I think the oldest (10) will be able to do the puzzles but not the youngest (7).

I would like to know the difference between the US & the Japanese edition. In the US edition, they use english letters for some of the shapes. Are these Japanese characters in the other edition?

Have not played it. There is the Arcade Logic Pro 2 that you can Mame which is addicting.

Just found this pic, another gem to hunt for.

I love picross, I should be picking this one up soon. I never played Picross DS so I may pick that one up at the same time.
This made me want to play some armor picross.

The wife says: the English characters are also in the Japanese version. Only the instructions/menus/etc. are in Japanese.

I'm curious if your wife does each puzzle logically or does she make educated guesses? The reason is that sometimes puzzles don't have enough numbers (well, they do but I find myself doing a lot of rotation, slicing to find a block that can be removed via logic).

I will only solve a puzzle logically and not make guesses. It can be difficult to solve some of the 5 minute puzzles in the allotted time if need to do a lot of rotation, slicing.

I wish they had the ability to do horizontal slicing. This seems a major oversight on their part in my opinion.

One of my friends is addicted to all things Picross. I own the SFC and one of the Gameboy games, but thats it. Mostly because I found this:

Been playing it. Some of the puzzles are hard when the figure is fat and there's lots of blocks in the middle. It's fun though. I think I like it more than the original.
Thanks everyone...
