Anybody please answer this question for me?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

It's a apple to oranges comparison. Besides being different gen consoles, they had very different kinds of games. Psone had a ton of great rpgs, and Dreamcast had loads of great arcade ports, or arcade style games.

The same games played side by side looked loads better on the DC. Gameplay was subjective though. For example, Tony Hawk 1 looked awesome on the DC. I have to say it was THE game that pushed me over the edge on getting one.

Now that game played way better using the Playstation's controller though and was still really fun, albeit more blocky and with more jaggies. The PS1 ran circles around the DC with the amount of quality games available too.

I know it wasn't the same generation of console, but it did directly compete with the PS1 for the first year of it's life and lots of people I knew chose to skip the DC since they already had a PS1. That guy is probably one of those people and is justifying it even today.

I think that given the opportunity, every gamer should own a DC these days, even if only for a little while, to play some of it's more popular games the way they were intended. You can't beat the price of admission either. For the price of a new release, you could buy a used DC with accessories and 5 games.

I love my dreamcast for different reasons than my ps1. There were some ports that were better on ps1 like Dave Mirra freestyle bmx, It looked better on the dc but played better on ps1.

But to make a long story short I would go with the playstation over the dreamcast because of the much larger library of replayable games.

If it was "which had better arcade to home ports" I would pick the dc hands down because it could do much more graphically and gameplay wise.

Should change your title to be more related to your query.

Every console has their own unique great games and exclusives. Look at the games you like first, then the console. In this case no need for a versus decision, both are inexpensive so why not buy both?

thanks guys for the comments. This is what exactly what i was telling my buddies the other night. Its your preference what you like and what you want to play. For me personally I love the dreamcast and the games on that system are great, but I love the playstation a little more because of the memories and because I play it on my psone w/screen the games dont look bad at all. I remember waiting to pick up a copy of tekken 3 for four weeks. The best one memory i had was I picked up castlevania sotn for ten bucks used and I love that game to this day. Anyways alot of people are always going to argue which is better but I just wanted to state the fact that these two different systems are both from different generations psone for the 5th and dreamcast for the 6th. Both revolutionized the gaming world and the games on both systems were and still are terrific.
Thanks guys for everything and I will show my buddies your comments tomorrow and maybe they want to try some twisted metal or maybe some soul calibur for the dc.
