i had to laugh at him...
went to ccag this weekend... and something happened that i thought i would share with everyone...
i pass this booth at the show and its a glass case got lots of $100's in it with a sign saying buying all games... i looked in the case and about crapped when i saw that he had a 6 in 1, 2 copies of little sampson, complete copy of earthbound, and a 1990 world championship reproduction cartridge, (i think there might have been something else but i dont remember), anyhoo i was looking at his booth and my girlfriend asked me something about the games, and i was explaining it and he overheard me say something about the reproduction cartridge,
he looked at me and said ya i got that in there in case somebody came by and wanted to sell me a real copy of it... i started laughing a little bit, and said ya that gonna happen (joking with him cause i thought he was joking) he looked at me with this straight face and said "it might happen, i had a guy come to me one time and sell me every single game ever made for nintendo (except the 1990 cart) it even included stadium events and all that...
i just walked away, thinking to myself "ya one of the people who just so happen to have one of the carts that nobody knows about is just gonna come up and sell you their copy for WAY less than market value"
i thought it was a funny situation that happened to me that i would share with everyone... does anyone think i might of been wrong for thinking that and laughing though?

For some reason he seems to remind me of those people at flea markets selling The Little Mermaid for $20 because they think its some rare collectors item. I would have had a laugh, but not to his face, he sounds like a nutter.
I was around with one of the worlds rarest games in my back pocket all the time! Just in case some guy with a repro wants to buy it, come on now!

Not too long ago at the Play N Trade I work in, some old lady came in and brought some NES games, one being a brand new sealed mint copy of Legend of Zelda.
I kid you not.
He gave her $2 cash for it.

Re: i had to laugh at him...
pat the NES punk, who posts stuff here sometimes, wrote an article in the e-zine over at nintendo age.
long story short: one of his friends works at a game store. somebody came in with a bag of nes games wanting to trade them in for a nes ac adaptor. the friend just causally looked in the bag, saw they were all common games, and made the deal. when the buyer left with his new ac adaptor, the friend looked through the bag more thoroughly and saw a gray NWC cart. pat the new punk ended up buying the game. how about that for luck.
it is a pretty cool article.

I am not really getting what is funny. Maybe I am just too dim or too jaded.

i thought it was funny because this guy seriously thought that one of the 13 people who have an undiscovered gold copy of 1990 world championships would just so happen to show up at cleveland ohio and sell him a copy of the game for way less than what it was worth

He reminded me of the same thing. Every vendor in my local flea market has insane prices, I honestly have no clue how they stay in business.emwearz wrote:For some reason he seems to remind me of those people at flea markets selling The Little Mermaid for $20 because they think its some rare collectors item. One game I remember seeing in particular there was Yu-Yu Hakusho on the GBA loose for $120. I bought it an hour earlier at Wal-Mart for $6 complete. While they do have some pretty cool stuff I'll never pay even half of what their asking for.

He sounds like the guy who'd sell SMB/Duck Hunt loose for $100, saying it was "rare and valuable."burningmice wrote:He reminded me of the same thing.
