Because I really really want to play Rave Racer, bad.

Why didn't this game get a home port!? It's one of my favorite arcade racers of all time and I've only ever been able to play it like five times!

I fail to see your interest in the cabinet. Its Ridge Racer. Not even RIIIIIIIDGEEEEE RACERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ($599). Just, Ridge Racer. I have that for my PlayStation. I bought it for 2 dollars. I can sell it to you if you would like for 3 dollars and shipping.

Fun Fact: Ridge Racer's game data resides completely in the PS1's 1mb of ram (save for the music). Talk about optimization!

That game is RAVE RACER which is an amazing and crazily over the top/awesome sequel to Ridge Racer 2.

Not quite but close, had to look up differences. Third in the series with better graphics. More Info:

Modman, found this one, seems similar to the RAVE version.

Rage Racer is close, but no cigar. I've wanted a copy of it for some time too, but have never seen it in the wild; kinda odd really for such a common game.

I'd kill for a chance to own a Rave Racer cab, the music, atmosphere and feeling of the game is comparable to RR: Type 4 other games come close, but nothing is really quite like it.

A grand is pretty expensive. But keep looking -- it may show up one day. Hound craigslist, look at local auctions, post on KLOV...

Have you looked at how much just the PCBs cost? Maybe its doable to buy the boards and make your own cab and controls? And then, of course, there is emulation.

Yeah, I did some looking and apparently Rage Racer was only sold as an upgrade/conversion kit for Ridge Racer 1&2 and then found a mint LITERALLY LIKE NEW Ridge Racer 2 deluxe cabinet for only $300 with a new flat screen CRT monitor on ebay.

In that case all I'd need would be a PCB of the game, rip out the RR2 one and replace with Rave Racer. The only problem of course is that the RR2 cab I found is in Missouri.

Here's the cab:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0627879023

IS THERE ANYONE IN MISSOURI THAT WOULD BE WILLING TO HOUSE THIS CAB UNTIL I CAN COME DOWN AND GET IT IN SUMMER!!!???
