yup, despite my constant suggestions to use the cheap camera when my girlfriend has a few drinks, she insisted on using her canon sx10is. someone put it on our range burner, then someone hit the burner and the battery cover got melted. i cut it all up so it would re open, got it open, put batteries in it, and it wont turn on. the plastic is the only thing that melted, nothing else got damaged, so it should be in proper working order. I think the melting warped the thing so its just not sitting right.
I did a lot of googling and cant seem to find any replacement parts for these damn things. does anyone on here happen to know if Canon sells repair parts? I would imagine that i probably need to replace the whole damn case for the thing. I know that Canon does repairs, but I would imagine i'd probably end up paying just about as much as a new camera would cost...if anyone on here can help me out, it would rule.

The stove is okay still, right?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I didnt pay for it. Im really more worried about fixing the camera i have now than investing in a new one.

Damn. I'm gonna have to stop storing my camera in the fireplace. Didn't think something like this could happen.
Re: 700 dollar camera VS stove burner
Did the stove fry any of the electronics? You said it wouldn't turn on, so even if they aren't warped and melted, I wonder if they have still been damaged from the heat.

I'm kind of leaning towards this as well. If you were able to get the battery compartment door open to replace batteries and the camera still didn't work; I doubt replacing any of the other plastics on the camera would have much of an effect.J T wrote:Did the stove fry any of the electronics?
