Guitar for over 10 years, drums for about 3. I can play any stringed instrument that doesn't require a bow and can play any keyboarded instrument but I'm by no means a great player. This is only possible because I know music theory. The only barrier stopping me from playing any instrument I want is technique.

Bass is a guitar. One of the options includes any kind of guitar. There you go.

Eh, yeah, I get it. But who says they play "bass guitar"? No one. Don't you know any bassists? They're a proud people. I'm sure they wouldn't want to be classified under guitar. Besides, what if you play an upright bass? Surely that isn't a type of guitar.

I was a bass player for about 3 years before I got into regular guitar. My first band had3 bassists and 1 guitar... You couldn't hear any of the bassists XD
