CPO overlay help.

I have a marvel vs capcom arcade, and the CPO is this weird shape. I think this was a gutted street fighter cab.

I want to change the artwork on it. Put down something. However, due to it's shape I can't put down art under plexiglass. Which means that whatever i stick to this thing has to be durable. I don't want to go with a laminated piece of art either. I think it'll look cheap. I don't mind taking a sheet of something and have it not cover those weird black indentations.

Also- you can see in the closeup that it has some damage. The thing is a sheet of metal with some kinda sheet of something over it. What are my options for repairing something like that? Sand it out or should i use some kind of putty?

The thing is about 25.5 inches wide and then 18 inches long.

racketboy, internet.... what are my options here? Am i totally screwed?

What if you try laying a large piece of plexi or polycarbinate over what's already there. You would have to drill all the holes for the buttons / sticks and cut it to shape. It looks like you could then easily screw it down anywhere along the sides. That way you could lay artwork down underneath it.

Those look like HAPP controls too, which means you could probably do this. They are deeper, which would be good for the extra depth the plexi would add.

Yeah- thing is it sits on an angle where the CPO meets the bevel so unless i could cut the plexi right, it wouldn't be flush with the back and kind of drive me crazy. I don't know how to cut the plexi for that. Plus, i would like all of the artwork to wrap around to the bottom. You can't get plexi to do that.

I actually have all new happ parts for the cab, but i haven't dropped em in (other than the left stick becuase the one in there was shot) because want to handle the art buttons all at once.

Oh crap. I see your problem now. Getting it to wrap around the bottom does prove difficult. I wish I could help, but I don't have enough experience in making stuff like that.

Is there anyway to lift off the artwork that is there already? I know you said you couldn't, but it looks like it might be glued down or something.

I haven't tried stripping it yet only because i don't have something to put on it after i strip it. I think any persistent pieces that i couldn't rip would sand off pretty easily.

I know this is a long shot and possibly could be expensive, but how about printing on rubber? I just saw it on this site, you'd have to search around for companies that do it.

I supposed you could strip everything off, then get the rubber printed, cut it to size, and use hot / crazy glue to adhere it.

You could probably do this with vinyl too. It might be cheaper and feel better than rubber.

Nice Arcade!

Putty or maybe some baseboard rubber molding or carpet edging wood - aluminum trim replacement from local Home Depot?

http://www.gameongrafix.com/products/co ... tom-design

Try this it was formerly known as mamemarquees.com

They made my marquee for my machine and it came out perfect. They also do side art bezels etc. etc.

They can make what you are looking for send them a pic of your machine find the marvel vs capcom art for cpo and side art send them too and also get the dimensions of your cp.

Below is the qoute from their page on custom cpo's

"Our Control Panel overlays are covered with Polycarbinate laminate (also used for bullet proof glass!) which offers a very tough, scratch resistant and textured surfaces. This will last a long time and take a lot of abuse. Do not settle for vinyl laminate!"
