What's your most hated game?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Deus Ex Invisible War.

GOD WHY what did Deus Ex fans do to you? Oh yeah MS joined the console business. Seriously this is the single reason I hated the original xbox.

You want to make a console MS? cool, if it's any fun I'll buy it. What is it you say? You don't have a lot of ties with console publishers? Well I'm sure if you make a good system and people enjoy it, you'll get plenty of support soon enough.

It's just a couple of tough years, of spending lots on marketing and doing petty stuff like "timed exclusives" and you might earn a spot among the console manufacturers. Oh you are going to ask for help from the PC gaming Developers? Oh I don't know MS PC games don't work well without a keyboard.

What you are bringing the Deus Ex sequel to the xbox and presenting it as a must have "exclusive" (seriously now who the fuck considers console "exclusivity" as truly exclusive?) Silly MS. Deus Ex is a really complex game. A deep story, open environments (well for the time) and lots of RPG stuff that just won't translate well to a gamepad.

What??? you are dumbing it down????????  :x AAARGGGHHH

and those are the chronicles of how I felt about that stupid game even before it came out. Bought it installed it played it uninstalled it, and been crying myself to sleep every night since then.

I actually own that, and I don't really care for it either.
I owned it too. I was a little obsessed with the arcade Dragon's Lair as a kid. I loved cartoons and I loved videogames, so it seemed like the best thing ever. My positive impression of the game was also helped by the fact that my mom would rarely give me a quarter to play it, so I had minimal experience of its terrible controls. I mainly loved to just watch other people play it. This was back when arcade cabs were everywhere, so whenever my mom went shopping, I found the nearest arcade cab and just watched people play. Dragon's Lair was a favorite. My best friend as a kid was also related to Don Bluth, so I sort of had an inside connection to the game, though I never got to meet Don. You get the point-- I loved Dragon's Lair.

When the NES version came out, I was so excited for it. Of course, it wasn't a cartoon, so that was a downside, but at least it had really smooth animation that was on par with Prince of Persia (pre Sands of Time). Now, one would not think that there could be any worse controls than the original Dragon's Lair, which is the granddaddy of the much maligned Quick Time Event; however, Dragon's Lair NES is actually worse. Much much worse. It is so slow! Oppressively slow! It is more sluggish than Resident Evil played at half speed with a controller submerged in mollasses in the winter months without a heater. But that's just your character-- of course, projectiles and enemies move at a normal rate, thus making your attempt to achieve any progress in the game FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE. I tried so fucking hard to like this game. I really tried. But my pure adoration of Duke the Daring could not even save this terrible title. I hate this game. It is a steaming pile of dog shit on top of a frozen pile of cat shit. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.

I spent ages trying to get past the water elemental and just had to give up in the end.
I loved that game, but the water boss is damn hard.
I died 55 times trying to beat it.

At all the Dragons Lair NES hate. Well quite honestly I agree. I've got it too and have had it for at least 15 years now. I always wanted to see what was beyond level 2 because I could never even get to the level 2 boss. Let alone figure out how the elevator thing worked. I was always petrified to jump off on any of the platforms. One day I looked up this. Still don't get the Singe fight at the end. Probably on emulation or some kinda cheat.

I bought the PC version, but haven't been able to get it to start on Vista 64. :(

I might buy the GameCube one if I ever see it again.

My xbox copy of Dragon's Lair 3D is yours to borrow.

It's not perfect by any means, but I still love the game. I loved the arcade version, loathed the NES game.

For me at least, this was the Dragon's Lair that I thought should have been out during the days of the PlayStation.
