MapleStory being (AFAIK) the largest MMORPG ever, has finally made it to the DS, albeit it's in Korean and there are no plans ATM of releasing it anywhere else
being an avid MapleStory player myself, but quit a while ago, due to my account information getting screwed over, I've been anticipating this title for the DS for a long time
unfortunately it's rather difficult to understand anything of the game, but these guys (see link) are in the process of translating it

it would seem that the DS version is single-player only, but this shouldn't bother too many people, as the game itself is such a kick-ass experience
if you don't know anything about the game(s), a brief description would be:
it's like Wonderboy in Monster World for Genesis, only bigger, better and all that
(ie. a 2D-sidescrolling (MMO)RPG)
:edit
largest MMORPG ever, as in *most players*
:edit 2
just realized this should've been in "hacks and mods", sorry 'bout that, feel free to move it
:edit 3
seems that the guy whom published this wasn't "allowed to", hence the project-leader has abandoned the project...
hopefully things will take up pace anyways...

"The game has approximately 10 million active accounts, and is recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world's most popular free MMORPG"
That doesn't include inactive accounts
why play it on the ds though?

I like (read: LOVE) Wonderboy in Monsterworld (aka. Wonderboy V, aka Monster World III?) and Wonderboy in Monsterworld VI (the one with the female protagonist)
and I've yet to find any similar games, for... just about any system (yes, I've played the Arcade Monsterworld titles as well, but don't take too much liking to them, as well as the C-64 version of the same... can't remember all the titles ^^)
when the "great console wars" was hitting the streets back in the 90's, I was one of few people (whom I knew) with a MegaDrive (Genesis) and all my friends had their "Link to the Past", for SNES; but I grew up with Wonderboy and really got into this kind of gameplay
if there are other games like that out there, I'm willing to give them a try, but so far my alternatives seem.... limited
Maplestory DS feels right up my alley, in lack of better
