Well even if I hadn't checked out the news I will always check to see what an update does before installing it. If he has switched his 360 in the past month it would have been prompted for the update. I guess that's just the type of guy I am, I have to know what's going on my system before I accept.
It's not a big deal though, I don't want to cause offense by my statement.
Do you install games on your PS3?

Well you'll have to excuse me for not being too interested in such multi-billion dollar corporations and any news surrounding them. As long as my consoles don't explode and I can continue playing games on them, I simply do not care.
However, thanks for the info.

Wait a minute... You can install games on PS3??? I've had one for 5 months now and I never knew that! But on my 360, I usually install games that I know I'll be playing a lot like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Bioshock, ect. Just the games that I'd spend a lot of time playing. Then I usually delete them once I'm done. Faster loading and better for the disc drive.
Re: Do you install games on your PS3?
The install methods are different. The PS3 features games that have an "install" option, which copies some amount of data files to your HDD. It's on a per-game basis. Resonance of Fate uses it but Final Fantasy XIII doesn't. The 360 has a "copy the disc to the HDD" option. IIRC you don't want to do this with certain games. I think Halo 3 actually buffers to the HDD to improve load times, so if you do the disc "install" it causes it to copy files from one part of the HDD to another.darthmunky wrote:Wait a minute... Why do you need large HDD?
I usually install a game, play it , when I am done I just delete the installation . I don't need it there, so I save space, its not like I will play final fantasy or RE5 3 times in a row, and whenever u want you can install it back there.
I have a 20GB drive and its fine(early model, it used to be big back then)

Same here man. Although with all the HD movies I've been putting on, I might actually be running low... If that happens I'll just delete Bones Season 1 and 2 and MAYBE my MGS4 install (I haven't played that game since it came out!).ZeroAX wrote:I installed a 500gig HD on my PS3 and never looked at space left again. Of course I install the games. It's a 5-10 minutes process which makes your play time easier. You can go and make something to eat in that time. What will you be doing in the extra secs it takes to load the game, if you don't have it installed?
Re: Do you install games on your PS3?
Wait, how do you delete game installations? I know games like Tekken 6 have the uninstall option, but how do you delete installs like MGS4? I'm gonna keep MGS4 on there, but just curious.

Go to the game, erm, tab. I think. What the fuck do you call those things on the XMB? Anyway go to the game section thing, go up to game data and press x. Then find the game you want to uninstall. Press triangle and then select delete. This won't delete your save data, since this is located in Game Save folder.

what codec do you use for your HD movies? Cause last time I checked the PS3 doesn't support .mkvSaraph wrote:Same here man. .mp4 usually. I also have an MT2S full 1080p 2012 on my HDD, quality is fantastic! I think that's what I'm going to use/look for from now on for HD on the PS3.ZeroAX wrote:what codec do you use for your HD movies?
