A 23-year-old from Mobile, Ala., accomplished the feat in just an hour and a half, becoming the first to pitch a perfect game in Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.'s "Major League Baseball 2K10." Why? I suppose 2k decided they could generate more sales by attracting people to purchase the game and practice for the contest?

Pretty much. It was pretty well-known that MLB 10: The Show was the better game, and by a pretty wide margin. I talked to a few who bought 2k10, and a good chunk of them bought it specifically for this reason. (The rest pretty only had a X360 and had no choice.)

Pretty amazing that so many people actually think they had a chance, but then again, the lottery keeps on going too.

I suspect steroid use. Hopefully Congress will look into this.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
