What Neo Geo titles you want to see on VC?

Post by baphomet_irl »

so I sleepily slumped back in my couch and sipped my tea, pointed the wiimote and clicked power button on, went to the shop channel, didnt even bother turning off my torrents as I thought after the awesomeness of Sin And Punishment last week there wouldnt be anything cool this week. Waited ages watching the blue ring spin, then that lovely samba music started (I think its a samba anyway maybe its a rhumba or something lol). Through the blur of my heavy eyelids I saw the words 'Neo Geo' and I was like 'oh yeh some 'coming soon' message or sumthin...' then I looked and realised that Fatal Fury was actually available to donwload and I woke up, ran upstairs, closed uTorrent and downloaded it :p

The emulation seems very good to me, sound is fine, speed seems very good, and one of my pet hates is not there: 'blurry' filtering, I know the originals of most VC games were probably being played over an RF connection, but with my RGB cable on the Wii I like to see each sharp pixel, the Turbografx emulation on the Wii unfortunately does suffer from the crappy anti aliased blurred look, but Fatal Fury seemed to have none, the Neo Geo logo at startup was pleasingly stark against it's white background.

So there ye go, Im happy about this development anyway :), couple this with the fact Ive recently realised I could play most VC games with my HORI Real Arcade Pro over my PS2 - GC adapter, and Im gonna be playin a lot of old games on my Wii in the next while :)

So anyway what games do people want to see released on the VC?

I presume theyre not going to release NeoGeoCD versions anyway, as surely that would be too big a d/l (unless they compress the audio majorly). I have to say one thing which really annoys me about my Wii is the way my SD stick is really only usable as a backup mechanism (i.e. games cannot be run off it, merely stored). I really hope they sort this out in a firmware update soon.

Which PS2 to Gamecube adaptor do you have and how well does it work? I am interested in buying several mainly for the same reason you have yours, I just have yet to find anyone who has one that will tell me.

ill go down and look now...

this is the one I have:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-g4- ... 0-14p.html

so far doesnt seem to be any noticeable lag, the button mapping seems a little off for Fatal Fury, but most VC games only really use 2 buttons

its Gamecube support is perfect, I didnt notice any lag in Capcom Vs Snk 2 EO or Soul Calibur II.

For some strange reason if I use a PS2 extension cable it does not work, but if I use a gamecube extension cable it seems to work ok.

I do think its essential myself if you want to play a lot of GC games because the D-pad on the GC controller is teh sux...

I think for an arcade stick I'll just wait another month until we get the Hori joystick in North America, as for games released I would like to see some Samurai Showdown and KoF '97 come soon! I would say Metal Slug games as well but I just bought the Anthology a few days ago.

yeh even though I have the adapter for my Hori Pro, I probably am going to get the Fighting Stick too, if only cos I think the light blue and white colour scheme is teh sexeh

I wonder if its gonna connect to the Wiimote or jus standard GC port?

I think I read that it will be like plugging a Classic controller into the Wii-mote, b/c it was saying that the Wii-mote is required to use the Arcade Stick; plus more games have CC functionality over GC controller functionality so it's more practical this way.

I plan on ordering two of those, but for Gamecube games the adapter is far easier then hacking Gamecube controllers (and cheaper to boot). Thanks baphomet, you have just added to my stockpile of adapters and helped me figure out one of the hurdles in one of my arcade concepts.

But to get back on topic, since I already have Metal Slug:
Last Blade (1 or 2)
Sonic Wings/Aerofighters 1-3
Cross Swords - though I would rather see it remade as a Wii game
