HELP! I WANT TO PLAY RADIANT SILVERGUN BUT...

Post by Tails_R2 »

I have no clue as to how to burn Sega Saturn games. I've attempted burning this game many times and all I got was eight coasters. Will someone please help and guide me through the process? Bear in mind, I have attempted to burn this game (8x, hence the coaster joke) and was, what I believe, successful in burning the game properly. Unfortunately that "successful" copy was region protected, I believe (I got the "This disc is unsuitable... blah blah blah" error).

Here's a list of what I got to work with:
-A US Saturn
-An ISO of the game and all of the tracks converted to WAV
-Sega Cue Maker
-SatHeader
-ImgBurn

I no longer have a cue file as I decided to make a new one for some ungodly reason.

DO NOT POST:
- Information on modding my Saturn or where/how to buy a cartridge to run the game.
I plan on running the game using the Swap Trick (Yes, I'm aware this can screw up my system but I don't plan on doing it all the time. This is the only burned game I want to play)
-Information on playing this with an emulator. (Why would I emulate on a buggy program when I have the system to run the game?)

I'm open to links providing me with a file containing the necessary game files if that would be easier, but I would still need help on the burning process.

I really want to play this game but I just don't know how to burn Saturn games, they're just so damn difficult! PLEASE HELP!

Wow!

Should I even bother to give you the standard "you should have searched for this" speech? Actually, you didn't even have to search. There's a thread stickied in the same forum you made this thread in. Scroll to the third post here...

http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... &sk=t&sd=a

But because I'm in a good mood, I'll try and help you out a little. First off, redownload your game image in case you damaged it. What's more, try and find it in BIN/CUE format because ISO+mp3 sucks. I would suggest getting it from here...

http://snesorama.us/board/showthread.php?t=2300

That's likely to be in BIN/CUE. If you got a BIN/CUE, just load the CUE into your burning software and burn the image. I suggest using ImgBurn (Google for it). Burn at a slow speed, no higher than 8x. Use a quality brand CD-R (no CD-RW).

Did you even read my post? I said I already have ImgBurn and you're telling me how to get it. Also, I think that's where (snesorama) I got my image for RS. It came in the iso/mp3 format. I forgot to mention that Sega Region Patcher doesn't work for me. I try to open SRP and I get an error (WITH EVERY SINGLE VERSION). So I have a general idea Ziggy, I just need some direction. Which your post in that other thread kinda does. But I need a way around the region protection on RS should the rom have it, without SRP.

Well, the swap trick is awfully tricky. It could be that there's nothing wrong with the disc at all; you just need to keep trying. It's a subtle art; the swap trick. It may take countless tries to get it just right. But once you get it, it's like riding a bike; you'll always have an innate sense for how to do it. So, just keep trying. If you really think something's wrong with the game, just re-download it in /bin/.cue format, like Ziggy said. Just keep at it; you will get it eventually.

Also, you will need the Sega Region Patcher, so don't stop trying to get that working. What is the error when you start it up? What operating system are you using?

Please search before creating new threads.
Please post in the 'Introduce Yourself' thread: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=210
It's bad netiquette to demand help when you haven't posted on a forum first. The rule here is, help somebody else and you may in turn ask for help.
Don't create threads with all capital letters.
Make threads with informative, descriptive titles.
Please read the forum guidelines before posting/creating threads in future: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 15&t=19455

That's a lot of faux pas for a new member. Please keep them in mind in future, however, since you're new I won't lock this thread. I will simply merge it with the other 'How to burn Saturn games' threads when you have the information you required. However, if you insult anybody else that is trying to help you I will ban you and delete this thread. Have a good day.

Tails, you're lucky that some one even cared to just glance over you post with the amount of bullshit you posted (as mentioned by Niode). But, for the second time, I'll ignore your bullshit and try and help you out.

Go to that Snesorama link I posted, there's several mirrors for Radiant Silvergun. One of them is bound to be BIN/CUE. If one of them isn't BIN/CUE, search for it on other sites. You really don't want the ISO+mp3 image, it has the best chance of be damaged.

What's this about Sega Region Patcher not working? You need to use it, you have NO idea what region that game is set to. Just because it's a JPN game doesn't mean anything. You never know what region it'll turn out to be set to. Did you try downloading SRP from the link I provided in the other thread? Does it give you an error message of some kind? What operating system are you running. Et cetera, et cetera.

You really don't need SatHeader, you need SRP.

Also, don't edit your first post to contain info that has be mentioned through replies. What do you think you have, a wanted ad? Are you worried that people will just read the first post and not any of the replies? And it's pretty funny that you made yourself sound a little nicer after the fact. That being said, I really don't remember seeing ImgBurn in your first post last night. If it was actually there, I apologize. But if you edited it in, you can go to hell. The only thing you should edit in your first post is the thread title, make it not have all capital letters.

So serious.
Anyway, I was just pointing out how he told me to go get a program I CLEARLY STATED I HAVE and yet tells me I should've looked the process up, I just found it ironic. I understand he is trying to (and actually did to a certain degree) help me and I appreciate it. I wasn't being a dick and I'm sorry if it came out that way Ziggy. Bobby, I have looked it up but I just can't find a clear enough guide. Like I said, burning Saturn games is a really tricky thing to successfully pull off (at least for me). Also, didn't I say I didn't want anybody posting anything about Saturn modding? So go fuck yourself dude. I asked for help, not a shithead who's trying to be righteous defending another user, Fucktard.

I'm using Windows XP (Service Pack 3? Not too sure on the SP) and the error I get for SRP is: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)". So could the file itself be messed up maybe? I would highly doubt it, the more probable explanation would be my computer.

Thanks for the heads up. I normally don't ask for help on forums for this kind of thing but Saturn game burning is so difficult for me. Sorry for all of the faux pas. I just desperately want to play this game and I know that's not a good excuse. I'll do my best to handle myself better in the future.
